Practice Life
the man on the internet said
“this is not your practice life”

i ran to that fuckin keyboard
and started writing
knowing that all i’d leave behind
were books on shelves
i’m really hoping for the
edgar allen poe
thing to happen—
you know, he wrote a bunch of
interesting shit
but never got famous until
after he died
i’ll print many of these
and disperse them around the globe
all on my own
in one hundred years
(the year 2120)
after the third electronic meltdown
(that’s what they’ll call it)
when everyone starts returning to
physical books,
i’ll be
the most read poet in the galaxy
or, if this all comes true,
a prophet.
