People come up with crazy, novel ideas all the time, and it’s your responsibility to be a patron of these ideas. Refusing to kill the messenger is not enough. You have to embrace them. Remember that at one point, you will be that messenger. Those around you will reciprocate the very activity you gave to their thought. Create a culture, wherever you go, of accepting and trying new things. Allow ideas to flourish, and innovation will follow. As you learned in Poke the Box by Seth Godin, the goal is in starting new ideas and testing them, not succeeding every time. A one hundred percent success rate is not possible, so work accordingly and don’t dismiss the crazy ideas.
