On heroism

The heroism you see portrayed in any sort of fiction is just that—fiction. Never forget that the world you live in doesn’t call for you to be the protagonist. Life isn’t about beating the odds, being a hero, saving the day, or miraculous feats. These are all examples of narratives that others will create in their own heads (because they never get out of their own heads) and use to drive themselves insane.

Narratives are purely fictional and have nothing to do with your existence as a human being. The one aspect of heroism you should aspire to is helping others relentlessly. However, be careful not to associate being a hero with helping others. A hero who thinks of himself as one has forgotten the people he puts on the mask for.
