On style versus taste

Style is timely, while taste is timeless.

To be stylish, you draw inspiration from a particular period in time. To be tasteful, you have to tap into what it means to be human. There’s a reason Dylan’s lyrics are so classic: love is part of shared human experience, not an era.

Boil down all timely matters to their principle, and you’ll find, at the core, humanity. Reproducing this in a creative endeavor equates to taste. It takes practice, resolve, and discipline to master, but it is the only way to create something that will last forever.
