Employers Want Degrees

Okay, and for what? Yes, it’s true, many employers still value college degrees, but what do they really want?

They want knowledgeable individuals who add value to their organization. They don’t want a college degree. They want you to be valuable, and if you can show that with a degree and student work, then you’re hired. If you can show that with years of working experience, you’re hired. If you can show that with freelance work, you’re hired. You just have to show it.

Go get your degree if you know it’s going to help you land the job you want. But don’t be mistaken: that employer wants you to be good at what you do far more than they want you to have a degree. Don’t stop at a piece of paper and call your education over.

We don’t just want degrees. We want to learn. Relentlessly.
